Bacchanal is one of my new favorite places to eat and enjoy music with friends. I've been to this Bywater neighborhood wine bar and restaurant a few times in the past month. When you arrive, you head in through the original wine shop full of fabulous American and imported wines and cheeses. The incredibly knowledgeable staff is more than willing to help you purchase a bottle to split among friends in the back courtyard. The last time I was there with friends, we chose a nice rose from France and ordered the cheese plate with freshly toasted bread. Because it was a Sunday we easily found seating in the couryard right near the African jazz ensemble playing that night. The couryard is so charming -- it is draped with a hodgepodge of twinkle lights and lanterns that create a chaotic, yet welcoming atmosphere.
