After working with the ladies at Magnolia Mount Plantation, I drove 45 minutes north along scenic Route 61 toward St. Fancisville. I eventually reached my destination, Afton Villa Gardens. The gardens are in bloom right now - daffodils cover the rolling slopes on what used to be the grounds of a plantation home (now demolished). I thought the winding drive leading up to the gardens was so spectacular. Although, my favorite part of the trip was just lying on my back on a bench in the middle of the gardens. I settled down and just stared up at the wispy Spanish Moss swaying lazily in the afternoon breeze. It was a nice place to clear my mind.
